The
CRS Dog Training Method
I
believe in taking a
very gentle, balanced approach to dog training. I
begin by finding out what motivates your dog, in order to make the
training experience highly enjoyable. Some dogs are motivated by food
or a toy, while others thrive on verbal praise. Your dog's individual
drive will play a big role in choosing the right motivator!
Next,
I begin introducing
different behaviors to your dog using a
combination of verbal commands and hand signals. I balance repetition
with fun and play to help your dog focus and remain motivated
throughout the lesson. By doing this, your dog quickly learns that
executing these behaviors on command results in a pleasant reward.
Unwanted behavior is ignored, enabling your dog to learn the difference
between what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. Being naturally
inclined towards reward, your dog will gradually become trained to obey
the commands — and once the learning process is well under
way, verbal praise becomes the main motivator in place of food or toy.
In
addition to the
training, I will teach you how dogs use body
language to talk to eachother. This important yet overlooked concept
will revolutionize the way you interact with your dog, enabling you to
"talk" to your dog in his own language as well as understand what he is
trying to say to you.
